Filter Categories

Status Filter

Filter by opportunity status:

• Open - Currently accepting submissions
• Closing Soon - Deadline within 7 days
• Closed - Past submission deadline
• Awarded - Contract has been assigned

Department Filter

Filter by government organization:

• Search for specific departments
• Select multiple departments
• Popular departments shown first
• Includes federal, provincial, and municipal

Value Range

Set minimum and maximum contract values:

• Enter specific amounts
• Use preset ranges (Under $100K, $100K-$500K, etc.)
• Opportunities without stated value can be included/excluded

Date Filters

Filter by dates:

• Closing Date - When submissions are due
• Posted Date - When opportunity was published
• Start Date - When work would begin

Set ranges or use quick options:

• Closing this week
• Closing this month
• Posted today
• Posted this week

Location

Geographic filtering:

• Province/Territory - Select one or more
• City - Specific locations
• National - Canada-wide opportunities
• Remote - Work can be done anywhere

Category

Filter by procurement classification:

• Professional Services
• IT and Technology
• Construction
• Research and Development
• Medical and Healthcare
• Defense and Security
• Transportation
• And more...

The search bar supports:

Basic Search

Type keywords to search across:

• Opportunity titles
• Descriptions
• Department names
• Reference numbers

Advanced Search Operators

Field-Specific Search

Target specific fields:

• title:infrastructure - Search titles only
• dept:DND - Search departments
• value:>500000 - Value over $500K

Combining Filters

Filters combine with AND logic:

Example: Find IT consulting opportunities over $100K closing this month from DND

1. Set Category = "IT and Technology"
2. Set Department = "National Defence"
3. Set Value = ">$100,000"
4. Set Closing Date = "This Month"

Saving Searches

Save filter combinations for quick access:

Managing Saved Searches

Access saved searches from:

• The Saved dropdown in the filter panel
• Your profile under Saved Searches

You can:

• Edit filter criteria
• Rename searches
• Enable/disable notifications
• Delete searches you no longer need

Search Alerts

Get notified when new opportunities match your criteria:

1. Save a search with your filters
2. Toggle on Email Alerts
3. Choose frequency (Immediate, Daily Digest, Weekly)
4. Receive notifications when matches appear

Filter Presets

Cothon includes helpful presets:

• Closing Soon - Open opportunities with 7 days or less
• High Value - Opportunities over $1M
• Small Business - Set-asides and small business opportunities
• Recent - Posted in the last 7 days

Clearing Filters

To reset:

• Click Clear All to remove all filters
• Click the X on individual filter chips to remove specific filters
• Select a saved search to replace current filters
