Buyers Directory

The Buyers Directory is a browsable list of government buyers — federal departments and agencies plus Ontario, British Columbia, and Québec public-sector buyers — built from historical award data and live opportunity feeds. Use it to answer a simple question: who buys what I sell, how much, and are they buying right now?

The directory is available at Agencies and is also embedded as the Buyers tab inside Analytics.

Summary strip

Four totals at the top summarize the buyers currently in view (they update as you filter):

StatMeaning
Buyers listedNumber of buyers matching the current filter
Combined spendTheir total awarded value over the trailing 12 months
Open opportunitiesLive opportunities these buyers are issuing now
Avg sole-sourceAverage share of awarded value that was sole-sourced

Finding buyers

  • Search — type a buyer's name or acronym (e.g. "PSPC" or "Public Services")
  • Jurisdiction chips — filter to All jurisdictions, or federal, Ontario, B.C., or Québec buyers only
  • Sort — order the grid by Spend (largest buyers first), Open (most live opportunities first), or A–Z

Tip

Sorting by Open is the fastest way to find buyers who are actively issuing right now — a big historical spender with zero open opportunities is a future prospect, not a today prospect.

Reading a buyer card

Each card is a compact profile:

  • Jurisdiction badge — which government the buyer belongs to
  • Acronym and full name
  • 12-month spend with the year-over-year change (green up, red down)
  • Sparkline — the shape of their spend trend at a glance
  • Vendor count — how many vendors they awarded to
  • Top category — their leading procurement category (IT & telecom, Professional services, Construction & facilities, Health & medical, Transportation, Security & defence, Office & admin, or Other)
  • Open count — the number of opportunities they are issuing now

Clicking a card opens the buyer's full profile.

How to use the directory

Qualify a target market: Filter to your jurisdiction, sort by spend, and scan top categories. Buyers whose top category matches your offering are your primary list.

Spot momentum: The YoY figure and sparkline separate growing budgets from shrinking ones. A buyer with rising spend in your category deserves more attention than a flat one of the same size.

Gauge accessibility: The sole-source average hints at how contestable a buyer's spending is. Lower sole-source share generally means more of the spend flows through open competition you can actually bid on.

Note

Directory figures are built from published award data, and the 12-month window anchors to the most recent award on record for each buyer. Provincial sources publish on different schedules, so recent months can still be filling in — see Tenders for how each source updates.
