Notifications with adaptive cards and the PM Assistant bot in Teams
Microsoft Teams Integration
Connect Cothon to Microsoft Teams to receive notifications as rich adaptive cards and chat with the PM Assistant bot without leaving Teams.
Setting up
- Go to Settings → Integrations → Microsoft Teams and click Connect.
- Sign in with your Microsoft account and accept the requested permissions (basic profile and sign-in information).
- You are returned to Cothon with the connection active.
After connecting, use Send test message on the Teams settings page to confirm everything works. The first test requires that you have messaged the bot at least once so it knows where to reach you.
Note
Depending on your organization's Microsoft 365 policies, an administrator may need to consent to the app before users can connect.
Settings
The Teams settings page offers:
- Notifications — turn Teams notifications on or off
- Default channel — where notifications are delivered
- Auto-respond — whether the bot replies automatically when messaged
Talking to the PM Assistant bot
Add the bot to a chat or channel and message it in plain language (in channels, @mention the bot). It can:
- Search procurement opportunities — "find opportunities about cloud services"
- Check project status — "show my projects"
- Explain what it can do — "help"
Responses are delivered as adaptive cards with formatted results and source references. When the bot is added to a conversation, it introduces itself with a welcome card listing what it can help with.
Profile sync
Connecting Teams also imports your Microsoft profile details — display name, job title, and photo. In Settings → Profile you can choose Teams as the source of your effective Cothon avatar and title. Connecting also enables direct Teams chat links to teammates who have connected their accounts.
Disconnecting
Click Disconnect on the Teams settings page. Stored tokens are deleted and notifications stop immediately. You can reconnect at any time.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | What to check |
|---|---|
| Test message fails | Message the bot once first so it can register your conversation, then retry |
| Bot doesn't respond in a channel | Make sure you @mention the bot |
| Connection errors | Reconnect; if it persists, your Microsoft admin may need to grant consent |
Note
The Teams integration provides notifications and the bot only. There is no embedded Cothon tab app inside Teams — use the links in notification cards to open items in Cothon.
