Joining an Organization
You need to belong to an organization to use Cothon. There are three ways in: a claim code, an email invite, or a join request.
How to accept an email invite
An owner or admin sends the invite. It is valid for 14 days.
If you are new to Cothon
- Open the invite email and click the link.
- The sign-up page says "You've been invited to join" your team. Your email is already filled in.
- Choose a password and create your account. You do not need to confirm your email, because the invite already proves it is yours.
- You land inside your team's organization.
If you already have an account
- Click the link in the email and sign in. The invite is accepted for you.
- Or open Settings → Organizations and click Accept under My invitations.
- If you are on the Set up your company screen, click Accept & join in the "You have a team invitation" box. Joining your team skips company setup.
Warning
Use the same email address the invite was sent to. If you sign in with Google or Microsoft using a different address, the invite will not apply and you get an empty account. Ask your admin to invite the address you actually use.
Clicking an invite link again after you have joined is harmless. Cothon sees you are already a member and does nothing.
Common invite messages
| Message | What to do |

| "This invitation has expired" | Ask your team to send a new one. |
| "This invitation has been revoked" | Your admin cancelled it. Ask for a new one if needed. |
| "This invitation was sent to a different email address" | Sign in with the account that received the invite. |
| "This organization has used all of its seats" | Ask the owner to add a seat or free one up. |
How to start with a claim code
A claim code is a one-time code from Cothon, such as COTHON-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX. It creates your organization and makes you the owner.
Your organization is now linked and verified to your company's award history. A claim code usually starts your trial too.

How join requests work
If your company's organization has set up Auto-Join Domains, Cothon can match you to it.
- In Settings → Privacy & Data, turn on organization suggestions with Enable Suggestions.
- Connect your work Google, Microsoft Teams or Slack account in Settings → Integrations.
- Cothon finds organizations with a matching domain and sends a join request for you. You see it under My Pending Requests in Settings → Organizations, and you can Withdraw it.
- An owner or admin approves or rejects it. You get an email with the decision. Once approved, you are a member.
Nobody is added automatically. Every join request needs an admin's approval.
After you join
Your role decides what you can do (see Roles). You can leave at any time with Leave Organization in Settings → Organizations. Owners must transfer ownership first.
