Competitive Intelligence

Market concentration, vendor comparison, win profiles, and incumbent re-bid opportunities

Competitive Intelligence

The Competitive Intel tab answers the strategic questions behind a bid decision: how locked-up is this market, who wins it, what do winners have in common, and which incumbent contracts are about to expire?

It is also available as a standalone page at /analytics/competitive, with an overview plus the same analysis tabs.

Sub-tabs by jurisdiction

The available panels depend on the selected jurisdiction:

Market concentration

Breaks the market into segments and rates each HIGH, MODERATE, or LOW concentration, with the top-3 vendors' combined share and the leading vendors in each segment. Filter by concentration level, domain, or work phase.

  • High concentration segments are dominated by a few incumbents — expect entrenched relationships.
  • Low concentration segments are fragmented — often the best entry points for new competitors.

Compare vendors

Put vendors side by side on their award records to see how they stack up in size, buyers, and categories.

Win profiles

For each market segment (domain × work phase), shows what winning looks like: typical number of wins, the median contract value, the top winners, and the differentiators those winners have in common. Use it to benchmark whether your positioning matches what actually wins in a segment.

Incumbents and re-bid opportunities

Lists contracts approaching end-of-term — the pipeline of upcoming re-competes:

  • Total upcoming re-bids and their combined value over the selected horizon
  • Each re-bid with the incumbent vendor, buying agency, and days until the contract ends
  • Contracts ending within 90 days are flagged as urgent
  • Search by vendor, agency, or domain

Tip

Re-bid lists are the cheapest pipeline you can build: the requirement is proven, the budget exists, and the timing is public. Start capture work well before the incumbent's end date.

Québec-only panels

On the Québec data source, SEAO's bidder-level data unlocks two extra panels:

  • Competitor pricing — a competitor table built from actual submitted bid amounts.
  • Bid competition — pricing power and how contested Québec solicitations are.

My-markets scoping

If you have chosen focus markets, the My markets toggle scopes concentration, win profiles, and incumbents to your UNSPSC families (federal and Québec). Panels that cannot be scoped — such as vendor comparison — display an "All markets" note.

Tracked competitors

With the organization intelligence feature, the Tracked panel keeps living profiles of the competitors you choose to follow. Track a vendor from the Vendors tab and Cothon enriches its profile automatically.
